Alexander Neumeister: Master of the Shinkansen Nozomi 500
Munich January 10, 2012
The Nozomi 500 is a strange exception of technological development. An evolution in a direction that had
no ancestors and no successors. It looks like an exeptional leap forward for a highspeed bullet-train concept that has
set a futuristic landmark, that has not yet been surpassed. In the contrary: The development of high speed trains in
the 21 century seems to move rather backwards in comparison to this futuristic developments and radical achievements.
The second new aspect in Japanese highspeed train design: The shape (exterior and interior) has been developed and
consulted by German designer Alexander Neumeister from Munich.
In the following video of January 10, 2012 Alexander Neumeister speaks in Munich about the positive and optimistic
circumstances that led to this exceptional shape of a high speed train. About its specific aerodynamics, about the
cooperation with the Japanese ingeneers and railway company and the overall positive circumstances of its genesis.
